Moraine Hills Highlights - June 2022

MORAINE HILLS HIGHLIGHTS

Class Placements 2022-2023

Thank you to everyone who provided input into class placements for next school year. We appreciate your input; however, please do not consider a request a guarantee of a particular placement. We will certainly take your input into consideration, along with several other factors.

Organization, teacher assignments and class placements will not be finalized until the final week of the summer vacation. If a re-organization is necessary, placements could possibly change at the end of September

BE KIND TO YOURSELF/BE KIND TO OTHERS

Jump Rope For Heart at Moraine Hills: Tuesday, June 21st.

Why Jump Rope? Jump rope to exercise like a champion:

Did you know that hockey players, dancers, basketball players and many other athletes all jump rope to stay in shape?

Jump rope to keep your heart strong:

Did you know that your heart beats about 100,000 times each day? That’s almost 70 beats a minute! Jumping rope helps to strengthen your heart.

Jump rope to help others:

Did you know that when you participate in jump rope for heart at Moraine, you are also helping to raise money to help all kids grow up healthy!

How is your Jump Rope for Heart fundraising going? Please keep fundraising – not only will you earn great Thank You prizes but more importantly, every dollar you raise will help to fund lifesaving research! Register and fundraise online at JumpRopeForHeart.ca. Your pledge envelope explains how to do this.

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 30th, 2022 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success. As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 30th, only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:20 a.m. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Parents/ guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

It is important that you are aware that your child, going from Grade 3 to Grade 4 may not be eligible to take the bus in 2022-2023. Students’ bussing eligibility changes throughout their school career. Your son’s/ daughter’s eligibility to ride the school bus may change according to his/her grade and distance from home to school. Below are the provisions for eligibility identified in the Board’s Transportation Policy #680:

• All YRDSB students in Grades JK-3 who live within 1.2 km of their school are not eligible for transportation

• All YRDSB students in Grades 4-8 who live within 1.6 km of their school are not eligible for transportation

• All YRDSB students in Grades 9-12 who live within a transit served area are not eligible for transportation.
